چکیده

Cases of severely exacerbated CNS inflammation have been described in patients with MS under treatment with alemtuzumab, a pan-lymphocyte– depleting anti-CD52 monoclonal antibody. On the basis of the peripheral lymphocyte subset network (higher B-cell and suppressed T-cell counts) and marked clinical improvement following plasmapheresis and rituximab treatment (anti-CD20 antibody), a B-cell–driven intrathecal autoimmune reaction was hypothesized.

O 8: Tenasin-C as a New Target for Multiple Sclerosis Treatment

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease, which is characterized by demyelination and neuroinflammation. Extracellular Matrix (ECM) have important role in the central nervous system (CNS). Alterations are happening to the ECM after the CNS disorder like MS, Alzheimer and other neural injury. Tenasin-C (TnC) is a glycoprotein that is highly expressed in inflammatory conditions of the CNS...

Insights into the Mechanisms of the Therapeutic Efficacy of Alemtuzumab in Multiple Sclerosis.

The pathogenesis of multiple sclerosis (MS) is thought to involve peripheral activation of immune cells against central nervous system (CNS) antigens and their migration across the blood-brain barrier, leading to CNS inflammation and neurodegeneration. Alemtuzumab, a humanized anti-CD52 monoclonal antibody that rapidly depletes CD52-expressing cells from the circulation, is being investigated a...

P 151: Clinical Trial in Cell Therapy of Multiple Sclerosis

Neuroinflammation is a disorder that causes neurological disease. Neuroinflammation has a significant role in induce of Multiple sclerosis (MS) and one of the situations that must be treated stops the ongoing process of inflammation against the CNS by self-reactive lymphocytes. According to the successful results that were obtained from the pre-clinical phase of cell therapy, many studies were ...

Rescue therapy with alemtuzumab in B cell/antibody-mediated multiple sclerosis

Alemtuzumab exerts its clinical efficacy by its specific pattern of depletion and repopulation of different immune cell subsets. Recently, single cases of multiple sclerosis patients who developed severe exacerbation after the first alemtuzumab application, accompanied by re-appearance of peripheral B cells, were reported. Here we present a case with underlying B cell-driven multiple sclerosis ...

P 150: The Role of Blood Brain Barrier Restoration in the Multiple Sclerosis

Blood Brain Barrier (BBB) is a specialized non fenestrate barrier that formation by the endothelial cells and controls the transportation of the cells and molecules in to the brain. Reducing in function of BBB is one of disruptions in neurological diseases like multiple sclerosis. Endothelial progenitor cell (EPC) help to the BBB to control the diapedesis of inflammatory cells & molecules in to...
